Private Equity Players Convergence Partners pursue growth strategy from Mauritius domicile
From Mauritius where Convergence Partners Communications Infrastructure Fund is domiciled and administered, the ICT-focused investment management fund continues its deployment across Africa, bringing in its skills, experience and capital to accelerate communications access and ICT infrastructure development on the continent.
The latest move of the private equity firm is a partnership with Google, International Finance Corporation (IFC) and Mitsui & Co., Ltd. to invest $100 million in CSquared, a broadband infrastructure company, to deploy wholesale, carrier-neutral, open-access fibre optic networks across sub-Saharan Africa.
“Convergence Partners found Mauritius to be a business-friendly jurisdiction with a conducive business environment. The favourable time zone and easy access makes doing business in Mauritius attractive. We have found service providers in Mauritius such as ABAX to be knowledgeable and highly professional and our business has benefitted from their insights,” says Mr Brandon Doyle, CEO and Founding Partner of Convergence Partners.
“We are proud to be associated with an investment company such as Convergence Partners whose track record of developing new investment opportunities as well as adding value to investments across the life cycle of ICT assets is impacting positively on growth in Africa,” says Mr Vishal Woochit, Senior Manager Fund & Investor Services at ABAX.
ABAX has helped Convergence Partners structure and incorporate its private equity fund. It is also responsible for the administration of the fund.
